Located in the heart of Yakima, Washington, the Barge-Chestnut neighborhood is a great place to call home. Generally bounded by Summitview Avenue and Tieton Drive, between 16th Avenue and 36th Avenue, the Barge-Chestnut neighborhood is located just up the hill from sunny downtown Yakima.
Created through the initiative of local residents in 2009, the Barge-Chestnut Neighborhood Association (BCNA) is a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing the unique qualities of our historic neighborhood by providing a forum for neighborhood communication and collective action.
We encourage you to visit. Take a stroll through the neighborhood and enjoy the established trees, the wide range of beautiful homes (built every decade since 1880!), splendid gardens, and community parks. Neighborhood residents and friends are encouraged to become members of the BCNA and to get more involved in local events.
Barge-Chestnut became the city’s first historic neighborhood
This Old House magazine named the Barge-Chestnut area just west of downtown Yakima as one of the best old house neighborhoods in the country.
Membership fees are $10 per individual or $20 for a household, which gives the person/household members the right to vote at Association meetings..
